Dem Bums take 2 of 3 from rival Jints

GAME 1
Podres vs Loes
Dodgers 11, Giants 1

Brooklyn battered their old mate Bill Loes to the tune of 10 runs off of 12 hits in just 5 innings.  Gino Cimoli hit two roundtrippers while going 4 for 5.  Campy turned back the clock with a 3 for 4 day.  Johnny Podres went 8 strong innings yielding just 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd.  San Fran managed just 3 hits off Brooklyn's master of the change up.

GAME 2
Drysdale vs Sanford
Giants 6, Dodgers 3

The Jints dropped a 4 spot on Big D in the bottom of the first and never looked back.  After giving up another run in the bottom of the 6th Brooklyn's ace was mercifully lifted.  "Cha-Cha" Cepeda went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI's while hitting a monster homer.  Jack Sanford (5-1, 3.48) once again benefited from great offensive support.  Stu Miller picked up his 8th save with a scoreless 9th while fanning 2 of the 3 hitters he faced.

GAME 3
McCormick vs Koufax
Dodgers 3, Giants 2

With the Giants up 2-1 and time starting to run out the Dodgers managed to score 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take a 3-2 lead.  Backup catcher Rube Walker led off with a double.  After Zim grounded weakly to third pinch hitter Elmer Valo walked then went to second on Junior Gilliam's ground out to short.  Charlie Neal's clutch 2 out single plated Walker and tied the game.  A passed ball, charged to backup catcher John Orsino allowed Valo to score what would eventually become the winning run.  Clem Labine would toe the rubber for the final 2 innings in relief of a 22 year old Sanford Koufax.  Labine would be pefect over those 2 innings to pickup his 3rd save of the season.  Koufax (2-0, 2.25) fanned 8 and did not walk a batter.  Flatbush fans keep hoping he will solve his wildness and this game was a huge step in that direction.
